Saint Neophytos

At the southwestern edge of Kato Drys, perched on a verdant slope, rises the small and plain chapel that is dedicated to Saint Neophytos the Recluse, honoring this great ascetic at the place where he was born. This little church was founded in 1923 thanks to the financial contributions and the personal labor of his fellow villagers. Following the traditional architecture, it is made entirely of the authentic, quality stone that abounds in the area, and is roofed with a single-aisled wooden tiled roof. Its interior dimension is so limited that it creates a deeply devout atmosphere, bringing the few pilgrims into direct contact with the sanctuary. At the same time, its exterior space offers visitors a unique, serene view toward the mountain masses of Larnaca.
