Saint Paraskevi

This small church is located to the west of Galata in the Solea valley and functions as the cemetery church of the village. It was erected in the late 1920s at the location known as "Koulia," a name that comes from an old medieval fortress-tower that once dominated the spot. For the building of the church and the arrangement of the surrounding cemetery, authentic stones from the ruins of that historic fortress were used. Because of its location within the cemetery and its limited dimensions, the church is not used for the celebration of joyous social sacraments.
