Saint Savvas of Karonos

The Holy Monastery of Saint Savvas of Karonos is a historic and partly ruined monastic complex near Prasteio in the Paphos district. It was founded during the twelfth century and is built in an isolated and verdant mountainous location in the valley of the Diarizos. Nowadays mainly the central restored church survives, while the surrounding cells remain half-demolished, recalling the old glory of the monastery.
