Small Church of Transfiguration of the Saviour

This small and isolated chapel is built in a prominent location upon a height, offering a panoramic view of the mountainous community of Agios Dimitrios Marathasas. It was built upon the remaining bases and the ruins of a much older historic church that previously existed at the same spot. Owing to the very small dimensions of its interior space, it functions mainly as a quiet refuge for pilgrimage and individual prayer. It opens for the faithful and officially holds a service every year on the 6th of August, the day on which the Transfiguration of the Saviour Christ is festively celebrated.
