Throne of Panagia

This impressive religious structure rises upon one of the highest and most inaccessible mountaintops of Troodos, in direct proximity to Milikouri and the Monastery of Kykkos. It is a modern, magnificent church that replaced older structures at the spot where historically the monks placed the icon of the Theotokos on a wooden throne to pray for rain. Its architecture combines elements of an open canopy and a domed structure, offering an unobstructed panoramic view toward the forest slopes. The space bears enormous national and religious importance, as there is also located the tomb and the statue of the Ethnarch Makarios III.
